During the recording of their previous album “Chalice”, Dave and Kev had begun to improvise some new ideas. Using acoustic drums and samples as the basis for these tracks, they seemed to have a different vibe from the music they had chosen for “Chalice”. Returning to record in August to add improvised electronics and vocals, Kev introduced his newly acquired acoustic guitar and the sound of Braciaca was complete.

The mixing of the album was delayed due to the self imposed deadline for the “Chalice” release (31st October 2022) in line with their established strategy of releasing material on days of pagan importance. To mirror the releases from 2020, it was agreed to release Braciaca on December 21st 2022. Mixing began in November at Earthlab and some minor overdubs added. The album was completed on 10th December and the intended release date could be adhered to.

During the final phases of the mixing process, Kev began sketching some sound ideas for the next Gnostic Grain album which will hopoefully be released in 2023. Plans are in place to begin recording around January and time will tell what they will create this time.
